Felony Charges?

Ok, so now you’ve lost your job because you’ve been in jail! You have no driver’s license to get around. You live in a town that virtually has no transportation system. You are confined again. You are not from this State so the friends that you’ve grown up with aren’t going to commute you anywhere. You have nothing to do! You have only your Grandmother and Mother living in this state.

What do you do? Well, my son watches TV and plays games all day! He’s gone to every employer, and once they see the assault and battery charges on his record they won’t hire him. He can’t drive so it has to be hours that his Mom isn’t working. Not a good situation because he is also on Parole. So caught drinking again will give him life in Prison.

He tried to get a hardship license, they said that after two or three years (I can’t remember which), he could apply for a hardship, with the interlocking device and a SR22 (Insurance form). Well, he went to get his hardship license, and a SR22, because the time had passed. They told him he had to redo his driving test and written test. He passed those, paid with his Christmas money and
money he’d worked for. Cost him around $600.00 for the SR22 and the interlocking device. Then there is still the monthly charges on top of that, after he gets his license. Well, he was told that he couldn’t get his license for another three years. So we went back to the insurance agency and boy was he mad. He got a letter from the Department of Revenue stating that his license could be renewed, but because of the charges in another State, he would have to wait. So the insurance company informed him that they would only refund $35.00 and that he would have to have the interlocking device taken out if he didn’t want to pay the monthly fee, which was $90.00. So he went and canceled his insurance and the SR22 because he wasn’t going to be able to drive anyway.

He got two letters from the Department of Revenue that stated “As of February 1,2011 his license would be suspended for another 10 years! Because they were requiring the SR22 and the Interlocking Device. So now his license because he can’t get it for another 3 years will be suspended for another 10 years. It’s not so great to have all this thrown on you when your in your early twenties! But then it is a lesson to not drink and drive! So he’s on Parole as I stated before, has to pay $30.00 a month to them, and has to pay the court back for being in Jail. He now owes the Jail or Court $2200.00 dollars, can’t drive, hard to find a job. Gone to the Missouri Career Center tried to get help in getting a job and they say just keep trying.

Here in Missouri I find that if you have family or friends you can get a job easier. But if your not from here, and don’t know any one it’s a different story!

Thought I would wrap this up, He got a job at a Restaurant, cooking. He cooks there about 20 hours a week or less. He only has until May to come up with the money for the Court. He will be off of Parole in August. He want’s to go back to Oregon where he can get a good paying job and where his friends are and he can get good transportation! Who can blame him?

Do you have any experiences like these? Want to share?
